I just finished my first "write-through" of Host and I enjoyed it immensely! Not only was it an extremely unique plot but the way the events are set up made for exciting storytelling.
This is the second solo journaling game I've ever played, and I cannot wait to do another run-through of it again in the future. I ended up journaling from the point of view of a young teenager so my first event was glossed over by her completely as "global warming or whatever", because the school dance was coming up and that was more important than whatever those boring science people were saying on the television.
A Journaling game to spend a few hours with. I highly recommend it to anyone even remotely considering it!
Thank you so much for the feedback! It's especially interesting to hear about a playthrough where the first event gets brushed off - I experience that a fair bit with the smaller scale events, but I had never thought to approach one of the large scale ones that way. The tension of knowing what's going on as the player while your character is in the dark is always a good time, so I'll be keeping that in mind to see if I run into the potential for similar experiences the next time I play.
Please let me know how it goes the next time you play - I always love to hear about folks' experience with it. Have fun!
I've only done one playthrough of this game, but I enjoyed it so much! I really like the separate Event lists, and journaling the time between them created a really evocative story of a farmer trying to figure out what the Host wanted them to do about the hole in the sky. It felt very dramatic and the ending inevitable, and I look forward to playing it again!
That's really excellent to hear! I'm glad you had a good time with it.
I really like that you got the hole in the sky on your first go - that was one of the first ideas I really had for this setting, so it's exciting that you ran into it straight away. Thank you so much for sharing your experience - please keep us posted of any of your other playthroughs, we'd love to hear about it!
Hello! I'd really like to try this game. Unfortunately, I lack the means to pay for it. Would it be ok to ask for a community copy? If not, I totally understand! Thank you!

Hi! I've added a couple more. Let me know if you have issues grabbing one before they disappear.
Thank you so much!
