Do (Not) Get In the Robot is out now! Get in here (or don't, as the title says), and make some stories about some robots.

It's not enough to just have giant robots in a mech story: you need characters to populate the world and events to happen to them. A hangar full of mechs alone is not a story, no matter how cool they are.

Countless incredible stories have been told about mechs and their pilots. Some of them surreal and unsettling, others good old action adventures, and a large number of military dramas. Do (Not) Get In the Robot is a system for telling yet more of these stories. It can be used as a solo game for procedurally generating a season of your own mech show, a group exercise in plotting out a mech anime that has yet to be, or even as a GM prep tool to set up a short arc of very mech anime events for a game.

Do (Not) Get in the Robot contains everything you need to detail out the mech show of your dreams. And then another. And then some more.

To play you need:

  • A place to record your maintenance jobs
  • Dice with 6+ sides (or a random number generator)
  • The Do (Not) Get In the Robot book

A few of the biggest inspirations for Do (Not) Get in the Robot were (aside from the countless anime that informed the story events/tropes contained within) Plot Armor, As Above, and Signal. They all contributed important ideas that made it possible to form this project, and it would be much appreciated if you'd go check them out and enjoy them yourself.

Do (Not) Get in the Robot is the second part of the Mechiverse series. New parts will be coming in the future to enable you to fight in mechs of your own and wander across a vast setting where both peace and war rely upon mechs. As additional parts are ready to share, links will be included here.

Do I need to buy Mech Mechanic to play this?

Nope!
They are stand alone games that each do their own thing but fit together along the mecha theme.

The next planned part is going to be for more moment to moment play (like you would expect from a system like World of Darkness or D&D), so all of them would be usable together, but no part is required.

Thank you for the explanation^^
